About Intelligent P&IDs
Engineering schematics are often developed in a computer-aided design (CAD) platform, such as AutoCAD®. Some of the earliest implementations of CAD software occurred in research environments dating back to the 1950s. Today, there are several CAD applications in use, including but not limited to, AutoCAD®, Microstation™, AutoPlant™, CADWorx™, and SmartPlant® P&ID™. AutoCAD®, perhaps the most widely utilized CAD application globally, was first introduced to market in 1982.
An “intelligent” CAD application is an enhancement to standard CAD programs in which an underlying database stores information about the objects within the CAD environment. The differences between a standard and intelligent CAD file is that "intelligent" P&IDs have powerful data contained within them.

How it Works

LDAR Intelligence™ generates real-time LDAR applicability determinations by intercommunicating between engineering software and stream speciation datasets. Compose real-time drawings, color-coded for LDAR, as well as a host of reports and queries to assist with LDAR program management and compliance. Characterize applicability of components when they are added and/or deleted to the program at the time of P&ID update (see EiMOC™ for industry-best technology for MOC LDAR updates).
P&IDs with LDAR tag number annotations are becoming an industry-leading compliance practice, but currently requires significant field and CAD effort to produce. LDAR Intelligence™ integrates with LDAR databases like GuideWare™ and LeakDAS™, and allows for the automatic updates of tag number annotations based on the LDAR database.
LDAR Intelligence™ automatically generates P&ID highlights, and automatically annotates LDAR tag numbers on the P&IDs.

How it Works
BWON Intelligence™ connects stream speciation and refinery flow rate data to object-oriented, intelligent P&IDs and allows users to perform a range of BWON compliance data tests. Intelligent P&ID users are now empowered to perform checks on sour water stream applicability (based on > 10 ppm ammonia and hydrogen sulfide content) and waste stream applicability (based on waste streams with greater than 10% water content. BWON Intelligence™ also performs applicability determinations for intelligent P&IDs that are tied to a refinery’s TAB report.

How does it Work?
Our PSM Intelligence™ module integrates intelligent P&IDs with other software systems in order to provide automatic PSM applicability highlights. Users can either use manual overrides or stream speciation tables to generate these highlights.
- Automatic calculation of threshold quantities (TQs) for hazardous chemicals to identify PSM-covered processes.
- Real-time P&ID highlighting of PSM-covered processes.
- Automated PSM reporting requirements, including Process Safety Information (PSI) records.

SAP Integration with AutoCAD P&ID™
PLANT Intelligence™ integrates plant data management systems used by a facility into a P&ID interface (e.g., AutoCAD P&ID™, SmartPlant P&ID(C), and CADWorx). PLANT Intelligence™ is currently capable of integrating the following systems:
